Take a Depression Test to Determine if You Are a Candidate for Depression Treatment

For the most part, a depression test is a great way to determine whether or not you may have clinical depression and should seek the help of a medical professional. By taking such a depression test, you will generally answer yes or no to certain questions and explain how often each scenario presented in each question occurs. Generally, most people will select at least one or two of the questions as happening often, but for a person with depression, they may feel that each question occurs more often than someone of normal behavior. A basic depression test can be found on nearly any health website on the internet, and if you feel you may be depressed, you should definitely take a few moments of your time to take such a test.

Famed health website WebMD presents one of the best depression test choices available.  It is a series of nine questions and you are asked to answer them yes or no whether or not you have experienced any of the situations for more than two weeks straight. Questions on this test range from whether or not you feel depressed most of the day to whether or not you think about suicide on a daily basis. Furthermore, you are asked about whether or not you feel physically active or if you have noticed any major changes in your sleeping patterns. When taking a test, it is important to remember to avoid tests which may be advertised by companies who are producing antidepressants; as such tests may be designed to sway even a normal person to believe that they are a candidate for clinical depression treatment.

After a simple online depression test, you should visit your doctor to see if your depression is caused by a chemical imbalance. Most doctors will conduct a series of blood tests, urinalyses and mental health exams to determine the cause of your depression and what type of treatment would be best for you. A written depression test conducted in a doctor’s office or hospital will be of a much higher caliber than one you would receive from a website.
